Beer Review: Singha Lager - (5% abv)

Okay, now that we started off on a slightly tilted foot with the last beer, I’m here to now discuss the lovely SINGHA.

The name “Singha” (Correctly pronounced “Sing”) is a mythical lion found in ancient Thai & Hindu mythology. The symbol located on the neck of the bottle “Garuda” is a Thailand symbol of royalty. This symbol was granted in 1939 and it’s the only Thai beer with permission to display this symbol.

This beer I randomly discovered one day at my local liquor store while they had a tasting going on. Needless to say I muttered a few swears under my breath as I walked out with a 6-pack. They always seem to get me that way….

I got home and inspected the bottled; Gold Oriental style dragon on the front, which makes this import nice to look at. The bottle cap came off with a bottle opener, no twist-off’s here. I took a few sips and immediately fell in love with this beer. Not hoppy, bitter or too sweet. No discernable honey or fruit flavors but it reminds me of a cross betwe…

Beer Review: Great Western Brewing Co. Gold Extra (6.3% abv)

Good morning ladies & gents… Here’s a quick review of Gold Extra beer by Great Western Brewing Company. GWBC is an independent brewing company in Saskatchewan. Now I know what you’re thinking, “Saskatchewan beer?” Yes, Saskatchewan beer…

Now I’ve tried the 40oz version of GW Extra Gold, and it’s not bad, but this is a lesser percentage beer at 6.3% abv while the 40oz version is 8% abv.

A brief summary of my beer experience and how many I have tried before we get into the mix here. I used to work at AGLC many years ago and it’s massive! A warehouse that distributes beer and other adult beverages all across Alberta. While there I encountered many different types of beer and as a result I wanted to try them. So after work on many occasion I went to the liquor store and purchased my usual beer of choice along with something different. This went on for several years; combined with drinking at pubs, special events and friends houses I have a list of several hundred under my belt.

So, …

The Final Frontier....

Now, when I was asked to write this I was a little shocked, because that means one of two things, either I’ve dated many, many times and been successful, or I’ve dated many, many times and not been as successful as I’d like. More emphasis on the latter.

I’ve been through quite possibly every scenario that one could imagine, but still there seems to be that missing piece. Now that’s where computers come in. About six years ago I joined a dating site, and without any experience I thrust myself forward on a new and exciting journey.

The Beginning – All’s well and getting some messages. Not one of the women messaging me is at all attractive, but I keep an open mind. Maybe it’s an old picture? Maybe she was under the weather that day and has since cleared up….Why is her “friend” with her in every picture? Which one is even her? Mental note: if the person messaging has pictures of herself with friends, she’s usually the least attractive. However, I end up being interested in a few and conti…

Online Dating Tips - The Male Perspective

(Blog post from about a year ago originally posted on: http://www.canadiansinglegirls.com/)

Let’s start from the beginning:

Step 1.

Profile Building

My first piece of advice is be honest. More often than not, when I’m viewing a profile I READ it. Yes, men actually read your profile. I like to see what it is that women are about, what they like/dislike, what they do for a job, habits….

Avoid rounded information, meaning “tell it like it is“. If your job is “accounting” – avoid trying to be cute by writing, “I play with numbers”. That means nothing and I’ll probably ask you about it. I don’t mind being cute, but stick to the facts. If you aren’t serious about online dating and don’t act serious on your profile, why would you expect any serious prospects?

(Case and point: Met a girl Sunday, spoke for an hour then realized she didn’t want kids. I did. I went back to her profile… It said “undecided/open”. If she didn’t want kids, all she had to do was say so, then I wouldn’t have wasted ou…

The Drunk...

The Drunk

This is the story of a drunk girl I accidentally ‘picked-up’ last March after getting sauced at the pub.

This all starts out as just a normal day at the office. A few twitter friends and I decided to meet up after our work days to shoot the shit and enjoy some beers. I got to the pub around 6pm and friends showed up not soon after. I was a little thirsty so I got down to drinking pretty good. Around 8pm, after some quite hilarious interruptions from another table filled with inebriated Irish-men I was well into my groove. 9-10pm and a few of the friends had to leave so it was down to myself and two other people drinking well into the morning. Around 2pm I realized what time it was and decided I needed to pay the bill and leave before I got too drunk to do either, plus at this point puking was a factor. I’m not sure how much I had to drink, but the bill was just over $100, and I usually drink around $40 worth before I’m pretty liquored up. I was paying for a friend as well, b…

Blackberry...

Okay folks, now to dive into something a little more delectable. I’d like to write about why Blackberry kicks the living piss out of every phone on the market.

Now first of all, let’s start off by saying that I’m a little biased here, being that I have exclusively used Blackberry for the past 6 years; 4 different models. But I’m going to strip this down to the bare basics: Performance, Functionality, Memory/Storage, Battery life and overall usage. Now I’m leaving out speed, screen size/resolution and apps. Why? Well for the following reasons… Speed is irrelevant. We’re in a time and age of technology where it’s just not going to get any faster. At some point we will be at the peak of velocity where our brains simply will not process information at any faster of a rate, therefore this is moot. Screen size and resolution is fairly good amongst all phones now; HD, 3D…e.t.c. And apps… well again, that’s up to the user. If you want 10 million shitty apps and a program that constantly give…

New photo gallery...

Hey folks! Here are some new pictures that I've finally had time to post. I'm working with some color now, but I do still prefer black and white... so I hope you like the new experimental color pics!
